Clarendon County School District Celebrates Dr. Rose H. Wilder Elementary School’s Achievement as a Palmetto Silver School
RWE Gains Palmetto Silver Recognition
Summerton, SC – Dr. Rose H. Wilder Elementary School has been recognized as a Palmetto Silver School for the 2023-2024 school year. This distinguished honor highlights the school’s significant growth and dedication to academic excellence by both students and staff.
Established by the Education Accountability Act, the Palmetto Gold and Silver Awards Program recognizes schools for high levels of academic achievement and progress. Dr. Wilder Elementary met the criteria for Academic Achievement and Student Progress, demonstrating substantial improvement and success without being designated as a Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) or Additional Targeted Support and Improvement (ATSI) school.
Principal Joaquin Brown expressed pride in the school's accomplishments, stating, "This is a testament to the hard work of our entire staff in maintaining an environment conducive to a safe learning environment where all of our students and staff can enjoy the learning process. Having the support of our families and the greater Summerton community is also instrumental in our success, and we are grateful for their continued partnership as we work together to ensure every student reaches their full potential."
Superintendent Dr. Shawn Johnson commended the school’s achievement, saying, “This award exemplifies the dedication, perseverance, and collaboration of our educators and students. Recognitions like this underscore our ongoing efforts to provide a high-quality education and equitable opportunities for all students while alleviating any barriers that may stand in the way. The District is proud of Dr. Rose H. Wilder Elementary’s progress and remains committed to supporting continuous growth and excellence across all schools.”
