Clarendon County Schools District Maintains Fiscal Responsibility with Audits Completed and a Clean Opinion
Clarendon County School District Completes 2023-2024 Audit with Positive Results
Clarendon County, SC — The Clarendon County School District (CCSD) has successfully completed the 2023-2024 audit, marking a significant achievement in its financial management efforts.
The district is now up to date with its audit schedule, thanks to the diligent efforts of the Finance Department. As they simultaneously initiated the new school year, they ensured all necessary documents were prepared, contributing to this successful audit outcome.
The audit resulted in a clean opinion, demonstrating a positive net position and a strong fund balance.
According to Elizabeth Inabinet, CPA and Managing Partner at McGregor and Company, “The district has received a clean opinion with a positive net position. The District is now caught up on past due audits and anticipates timely submissions going forward.”
The audit found no issues within the Federal Programs selected for review. Moreover, the number of findings in the finance section was reduced to three from six in the previous audit, reflecting continuous improvement in financial controls and practices. These findings were primarily due to the urgency in closing out the year, and corrective actions have been identified. Areas requiring attention include CDL testing documentation and the timely completion of audits. These findings will be resolved in the upcoming year.
Superintendent Johnson expressed gratitude, noting, “We appreciate the hard work that has been put in to get this done. Our community can be confident that CCSD has met its commitment to complete the audit and continues to pursue excellence in financial stewardship.”
