🚀 MECC Moon Tree Celebration 🌱 Today, MECC proudly celebrated the planting of its Moon Tree, one of only a few in the U.S.! 🌍🌕 This tree, grown from seeds that traveled to space aboard Artemis I, symbolizes exploration, STEM innovation, and limitless possibilities. We were honored to welcome Dr. Howard Conyers, a Clarendon County School District graduate and NASA engineer, who played a key role in Artemis missions, testing rocket engines weighing hundreds of thousands of pounds! 🚀🔥 Dr. Conyers shared his inspiring journey—starting with a love for math and science in elementary school, nurtured by incredible educators and schools leaders like Dr. Rose H. Wilder. He emphasized the power of hard work, listening, and seizing opportunities to achieve greatness. A special moment was shared when Dr. Conyers gifted Andrew, a future astronaut, a keepsake from one of his NASA projects! 🛰️✨ 🌱 NASA’s Moon Trees initiative connects students to space exploration, reminding us all to think big and dream big! 🌿 Thank You, Mrs. Marie Land & Garden Volunteers! 🌿 A huge thank you to Mrs. Marie Land and her dedicated Garden Volunteers for their time and passion in exposing our children to STEM activities in the garden and teaching them healthy eating habits.
