During Mrs. Land's garden class garden today our young gardeners learned about cotton. They felt the seeds in cotton and discussed that our clothes are made from cotton. We also learned all about sweet potatoes and Mrs. Karen Kay Hilton-Sanders read the best book about sweet potato pie! We dug a sweet potato and 🍠 our kids are bringing it home! They are better if they sit a week before you eat them - so next week they will be ready to eat!. Our classes helped Bitsy Land dress the scarecrows to keep the deer away!!🦌🦌

🌱 What an Amazing Week of Learning! 🌞 This past week has been full of hands-on experiences both in the classroom and outside! In our garden, students explored the fascinating world of soil, discovering the different layers and understanding their importance. We even encountered some delightful surprises, including butterflies, bugs, and a baby lizard among our raised beds! 🦋🐞🦎 In our Cooking Matters class, we put our knowledge to good use by creating a delicious snack that included four of the five MyPlate food groups. It was a tasty way to reinforce our healthy eating lessons! 🍏🥕🥖 We are incredibly proud of our students for their enthusiasm and engagement in learning about the environment and nutrition. Here’s to many more weeks of exploration and discovery! 🌟 #HandsOnLearning #GardenAdventures #CookingMatters #CCSD #FutureScientists
