Ms. Blanding's students work together to supercontinent Pangaea as they study fossils, rocks and plate motion. They will research the Fossil records of the continent as their culminating activity.



This ECM team (Engaging Creative Minds) had an engaging after-school tutoring session.

Ms. Henry's Chemistry I Honors class concluded their STEM Day investigations into the chemistry of baking cookies on Tuesday, November 14th. Investigations concluded with a visit from SBHS Alum Anita Benbow, owner of Treat Dreams by Anita. In addition to discussing the importance of measurement accuracy in baking and ingredient reactions, she assisted students in Cookie Chemistry involving chocolate chip cookies! We would also like to thank Ms. Pearson and her staff for supporting our investigations!



Special thanks to SBHS Alum Shania Junious for assisting parents with completing parent surveys during our 9th and 10th grade "Conversations with Cummings" session.


EOC Blitz Study Sessions for all EOC courses at SBMHS began Tuesday, November 7th, with all EOC teachers. Study sessions will be held from 3:20-4:20 pm Tuesday- Thursday each week before EOC testing. Transportation is being provided. For more information, please get in touch with Ms. LaTasha Henry.




SBMHS Parent Nights:
SBMHS Parent Meetings, "Conversations with Cummings" began on November 7th with our high school students and their parents/ guardians and will conclude this week November 13th-17th with our middle school students and parents/guardians. During these conversations, Principal Cummings shared academic and behavioral expectations with students and parents as well as led an in depth discussion of each school's report card, explaining each school's rating and what the target goals are for each school. Parents and students were also afforded the opportunity to ask questions and voice concerns. The SBMHS family would like to thank all parents and students for their participation.

Our ROTC students, our chorus, Assistant Principal Henry Williams and our Veteran Indie Robinson gave a wonderful "Thank You to our Veterans" Friday morning with Full Bird Colonel Clarence Hilton 06 speaking to the crowd. Thank you for all your hard work, dedication and service to our country.

Ms. Christy Blanding and Mrs. Latosha Henry-Pugh celebrated National STEM Day with their Chemistry I Honors students who began to put theory into practice investigating the Chemistry involved in baking cookies. Students researched, and selected, a simple chocolate chip cookie recipe to investigate how manipulating ingredients affected the taste, texture, and appearance of their cookies. Cookie Chemistry investigations will conclude this week.
