All 2nd grade students will complete CogAt & Iowa Gifted and Talented testing between Monday, October 12th and Friday, October 16th. It is very important for students to be at school and on time during testing. Tardy students will not be allowed to enter the classroom once testing begins.

WGE is seeking candy donations for our Fall Festival. If you are interested in donating, please send bags of individually wrapped candy on or before October 30th.

There is no school for students between Tuesday, October 6th and Friday, October 9th due to CCSD’s fall intersession break.

The Manning Lions Club will visit WGE again Monday, September 28th to finish vision screenings. Prekindergarten, kindergarten, 4th grade, and 5th grade students completed the screenings this week. If the screening indicated a recommendation for a vision referral, students will bring home a letter Monday. Students in first through third grade will be screened Monday morning. If you would like your child screened and did not return the signed permission form, please send the following form back to school Monday. 🍂 👑 FALL FESTIVAL KING & QUEEN FUNDRAISER! 👑🍂 It’s time to crown our Fall Festival King and Queen! Students will have the opportunity to participate in our Fall Festival King & Queen Fundraiser. Information and fundraising sheets will be sent home with students. Every dollar raised helps support our school and makes our Fall Festival extra special! We can’t wait to see who will be crowned! Thank you to our students, families, and community for supporting our school!

Attention Car Rider Parents: Please do not move the two cones placed at the end of the driveway at Jakes Road. The cones will be removed, and we will again use that right-hand turn lane once the bridge work is completed. We ask that you do not drive around cars turning left in the line in an attempt to make a right turn into the driveway.

Make-up picture day is scheduled for Wednesday, September 30th.

Don’t forget to make plans to attend WGE’s STEAM Night on Thursday, September 24th at 5:30 PM.

Friday, September 25th is an early dismissal day. Students will be dismissed at 11:00 AM.

Just a reminder: WGE is looking for volunteers to distribute candy during our Fall Festival Trunk or Treat. Fall Festival is scheduled during school hours on Friday, October 30th. All volunteers must have an approved background check on file. Please refer to the flyer for additional information.

Clarendon County School District is beginning the process of screening students for possible placement in the Gifted and Talented Academic PRIDE Program. All 2nd grade students will complete CogAT and IOWA Assessments between Monday, October 12th and Friday, October 16th. Students in grades 3 through 5 who are either new to the district or have not been identified through the standard evaluation process may be recommended for screening. The deadline for referrals is September 30, 2026.
