Walker Gamble Elementary

WGE invites grandfriends to visit the school, take pictures, and walk students to class on Thursday, September 4th and Friday, September 5th from 7:15 until 7:55 AM. Grandfriends of students in PreK, K5, 1st grade, Ms. Kat's class, and Ms. Adrianna's class will visit on Thursday. If there is an older sibling, please visit their class on Thursday. Grandfriends of 2nd through 5th graders will visit on Friday.

Don’t forget – Thursday, September 5th is the last day to turn in money and forms for the Walker Gamble Elementary Sculpture Project. Your student's handprint could be a tangible piece of WGE history!

WGE Picture Day is scheduled for Thursday, September 11th. Order forms will go home with students this week. You can pre-purchase pictures or order them online after proofs are made available [my.lifetouch.com Picture Day ID - EVTSK97Q6].

Today, we celebrated our first WGE House Day of the year and recognized our August Leaders of the Pack! These students were selected for showing outstanding RESPECT, which is our character word for the month of August. Congratulations, Wolverines! 🐾 💚🩵🧡💛🐾

If your student is dropped off at 7:55 AM or later, please walk your child into the front office. Students are tardy at this point and cannot be dropped off in the parking lot. An adult must accompany them into the school building.

Friday, August 22nd is an early dismissal day. Students will be dismissed at 11:00 AM.

There is a Washington, DC parent information meeting schedule for Tuesday, August 19th at 6:00 PM in the WGE cafeteria for all rising 5th grade parents. You do not need to attend if you went to the information meeting in May.

If your child is a car rider in the afternoons and you do not have a car tag, either let your child's teacher know or email Beth Watts (elizabeth.watts@clarendoncsd.org). Please include your child's name and homeroom teacher in the email.

ECMHS Mini Cheer Camp

Mrs. Deane and Mrs. Shari’s students kicked off the year with a cozy (and creative!) start! After reading Memory Jars by Vera Brosgol, they gathered “around the campfire” for some s’more narrative writing fun. 🪵🔥 Students shared their favorite memories, turning them into sweet stories—just like the s’mores they enjoyed! 🍫📖🐾

5th Grade Washington, DC Parent Information Meeting

Parent Portal is now open for WGE students and parents. Your account from last year should still be active. If you are new to WGE and need account information, please contact your child's teacher. Parents can use this platform to view attendance and grades.

Afternoon Dismissal Update: Please form one line in the driveway prior to dismissal beginning. The entrance to the parking lot is being blocked and this must remain clear until dismissal officially begins. The line will not split into two separate lines until you pass the entrance of the parking lot. If you do not have student car rider tags, please let your child's teacher know. Remain parked until a teacher directs you to move forward after your child has been loaded. This is for the safety of students and employees.

One of the best parts about beginning 4th grade ELA with Ms. Lauren and Ms. Briana is visiting the Reading Café! Instead of food, the menu was full of books—students got to “sample” different genres and find out what they liked best. From mysteries to fantasy to historical fiction, there was something for every taste! 🍽️ 📖✨

🎉 The first day of school at our new location was absolutely fantastic! 🏫✨ Students and staff entered with big smiles 😊, ready to kick off an exciting year of learning and growth. 📚🌟

Safety protocols 🦺✓ were carefully followed as everyone arrived to ensure a safe and smooth start to the 2025-2026 school year.

We were also honored to have Superintendent Johnson visit us to greet our wonderful students and staff! 👋🏼👩‍🏫👨‍🎓 His warm welcome set the perfect tone for a year of excellence, achievement, and lots of success! 🚀🏆
