Mark your calendars! 🗓 Our concert is next Wednesday and will bring joy to your holiday season with the sound of Jerry Cottone and our Kindergarten and primary Montessori students.

We planted a tree for Arbor Day with Mrs. Marie Land and her gardener team! 🌲 We read The Gingerbread Baby and had some hot cocoa and gingerbread cookies! 🫚

Thanks to Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Phi Omega Omega Chapter, for donating four beautiful trees to our MECC gardening students to plant! Last night the MJHS' and MHS' Monarch Christmas Concert at Weldon was enjoyed by so many of our staff and students with their families. An inspirational way to get "into the Spirit."

Congratulations to our November teacher feature of the month, Colonda Lee and our staff feature of the month, Wayne Bowman. We appreciate all of your dedication to MECC! Special thanks to our sponsors, Andrea Leggett, Mary Kay Rep. and Johnson's Fish, for the gifts for our winners.

Kindergarten and Primary Montessori Christmas Program

Before Thanksgiving break, Mrs. Land & her gardening team came to teach our students about trees, which provide a valuable resource for things we use daily, such as toothpaste and soap. Students also learned about photosynthesis. Our students made creative drawings from a leaf and shared them with their class. 🍁

In garden class, Mrs. Land showed students the bitter orange plant and provided seedlings to plant. Catherine talked about acorns and experimented to see if theirs was a viable/living seed.
Ms. Bitsy shared a read-aloud: Acorn to Oak Tree Life Cycle. Ms. Gene showed students how to tell if eggs are safe to eat. Third graders harvested kale and lettuce, 🥬and then Mrs. Land made a salad with our lettuce during lunch. Great day in the garden!🪴

Mr. Phelps came to teach our students all about Bees! 🐝 We learned about bee colonies, pollination, and how honey is collected. We also tasted delicious honey! 🍯

Congratulations to our October teacher feature of the month, Daina Palanay, and our staff feature of the month, Terrub Thompson. We appreciate all of your dedication to MECC!
Special Thanks to our sponsors: Burger Chick and SubStation II for your gift card donations to CCSD

On a sunny warm Tuesday, MECC had a fun adventurous Fall Day for all our students and their families who visited.
