📚 Attendance Matters… Every Scholar, Every Day! 🍎 At Clarendon County School District, we know that showing up is the first step toward success. Every day in the classroom is an opportunity for our scholars to learn, grow, and achieve. Parents and guardians, please take a moment to review our 2026-2027 Attendance Guidelines to better understand excused and unexcused absences, attendance requirements, parent note limits, and how attendance impacts student success. ✅ Remember: 🍎 Students are required to attend at least 170 of the 180 school days. 📝 Parent notes must be submitted within 3 days of a student’s return to school. 📅 Family vacations and appointments should be scheduled during school breaks whenever possible. 🎓 Good attendance leads to stronger academic performance, meaningful relationships, and greater opportunities for success. Together, let’s make attendance a priority and ensure Every Scholar. Every Day. #AttendanceMatters #EveryScholarEveryDay #UnifiedAsOne #CCSDExcellence #ClarendonCSD #AttendTodayAchieveTomorrow

Is there energy in hot chocolate? Does the temperature of water affect the way the drink comes out? Students had the opportunity to test 3 different temperatures of water, room temperature, ice water, and hot water. The mission was to find out if cocoa mix dissolve faster in room temperature, ice water or hot water. Students came up with a hypothesis and carried the experiment through. In conclusion the ice water was the least integrated with lots of clumps; the room temperature water did not mix well or combined thoroughly with some clumps; and the hot water mixed and integrated thoroughly, dissolved entirely, no clumps and no separation. Thank you Ms. C. Britt for engaging our students with this awesome experiment.

STEM Education at work at MES! Congratulations Dawson Austin, Paige Dow, Kaleb Stukes, and Gatlin Witherspoon-Martin! These exceptional students participated in JASON Learning and ReMA's contest: Recycling Batteries: HIdden Risk, Uncovered Reward. Students had to research various sites to learn where batteries can be recycled in Clarendon County, contact owners and managers of those sites, and then put together a public service announcement by creating an informative video. Of the 368 submissions nationwide, two of our groups from MES were selected and recognized. Special thanks to Mrs. Elliott, our Media Specialist, who allowed the students to film their videos in the library.

Parents, Guardians, and Caregivers, Please support us by ensuring your child leaves all electronic devices at home on testing days. SC READY (State Testing) is considered high-stakes testing, and possession of any electronic devices during testing is a violation of testing security policies. We also ask that students leave book bags at home and do not bring blankets to school on testing days. Thank you for your cooperation. Please refer to the attached district electronic device policy and testing tips for more detailed information.
