While every day offers a chance to raise awareness, this month we focus on education and sharing life-saving resources related to suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention. School Social Workers play a vital role in ensuring our students, staff, parents/guardians, and community members are informed and supported. Despite the recommended ratio of 1:250 by the School Social Work Association of America, our dedicated social work team carries the load of all students in our district.
School Social Workers Promote Awareness and Education by:
🧠💬 Facilitating classroom lessons and staff trainings on mental health, stress management, and coping skills
🚨🔒Sharing age-appropriate resources on warning signs, risk factors, and protective factors
📞 Promoting the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (988) and other crisis supports
They also Ensure Prevention and Early Intervention by:
💪🌸 Offering individual and group counseling focused on self-esteem, resilience, and emotional regulation
